Some of the largest Black Bears in the world call this place home. Wolves, Moose, and Pine Marten also share the timber here and are common sights in this incredible country. Very few places offer the combination of quality and quantity of Black Bears as are found here. Coupled with access to the World's Best Freshwater Fishery, Lake of the Woods,which is located just outside the doors the cabins, and you have a combination that can be found nowhere else in our great country. Transportation to the active bait sites, trophy care, meals and lodging are all a part of your stay.
The Hunt...The hunt is different at Big Paws than any other bear camp. Your baits are tended and baited again each day, and it doesn't stop when the season opens or the day you climb into your stand. Details like bait types, stand placement, sent control, and shooting lanes are all important factors at each stand site.
The Stand Sites...Digital game cameras on nearly all the baits allow us to monitor the number of bears and estimate the trophy quality of the bears visiting each site. A stand system that allows us to quickly and quietly change stand locations depending on variable weather conditions and utilization of natural cover to conceal the hunter in his or her stand are just a few of the advantages in your favor at Big Paws. Many of the bait sites will also be set up to accompany or film your son or daughter's first bear hunt over their shoulder, creating memories you will never forget. Sites are even specialized to accommodate bow hunters for shots under 25 yards or gun hunters at a longer range to ensure your best shot at success.
Booking your Hunt...Booking your hunt is simple and requires only a small deposit to secure your hunt dates and license. All of the hunts are 5 day hunts and the dates are flexible. The season begins the first of September and runs into the middle of October. However, to ensure an exceptional opportunity for all hunters, the hunts will only be conducted on a limited basis during the month of September...so book your adventure soon. Minnesota does have an application process and in order to hunt this year, we must apply for your tag by May 1st. Fortunately, we at Big Paws have enjoyed great success in receiving tags for our clients and expect nothing less in the future. Tags can be applied for individually or in groups.
